Twenty two years on Canton furnaces
I started on new construction and hated it. Everything was the same. Then I picked up a service route on the west side and found the work I actually wanted, which is old houses with heating systems nobody has drawn a diagram of since 1968.
Most of Canton was built before 1960. That matters. A furnace in a house with balloon framing and no return ducting behaves differently from the same furnace in a subdivision, and a fair number of the quotes I get called in to second guess were written by somebody who never looked at the house.
